Introduction

A smart meter is usually an electronic device that records consumption of water in intervals of an hour or less and communicates that information at least daily back to the utility for monitoring and billing.

Work Done

  • implemented charging hardware "image" "image"
  • implemented server side PHP scripts
  • calibrated the flow meter "image"
  • added GSM module AT commands to send data to server "image"
  • implemented a FireFox OS web-app to see the usage statistics in real time

Future Scope

  • may extend this to a billing system for the water authoritires
  • may extend this to an online payment portal
  • may implement a fool proof method by which water stops when the power goes down
